JOB TITLE: Business Development Manager

REPORTING TO: Chief Executive Officer

LOCATION: Lilongwe

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full Time

SALARY: Competitive

JOB PURPOSE

The Business Development Manager will drive the growth, visibility, and financial sustainability of Silver Strikers Football Club. The role focuses on developing innovative revenue streams, managing sponsorships and partnerships, enhancing fan engagement, and positioning the Club as a commercially sustainable football brand beyond match-day income.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Sponsorship & Partnerships

  • Identify, negotiate, and secure sponsorships locally, regionally, and internationally
  • Develop tailored sponsorship packages (kit branding, digital exposure, activations)
  • Manage sponsor relationships to ensure value delivery and long-term partnerships
  • Explore partnerships with NGOs, government, and development organisations for CSR and Sport-for-Development initiatives

2. Revenue Generation & Commercial Strategy

  • Develop and implement diversified income strategies (merchandising, licensing, broadcasting, digital content, hospitality)
  • Introduce match-day hospitality and VIP packages
  • Identify international commercial partnerships to enhance brand value and revenue

3. Fan Engagement & Community Development

  • Design fan engagement initiatives, membership schemes, and loyalty programmes
  • Monetise digital platforms (social media, YouTube, website, mobile platforms)
  • Integrate women’s, youth, and community football into sponsorship opportunities
  • Strengthen the Club’s community-driven identity

4. Marketing, Branding & Media

  • Strengthen Silver Strikers’ brand positioning locally and regionally
  • Support marketing and PR campaigns with the Communications & Media Engagement Officer
  • Ensure consistent brand messaging across all platforms
  • Secure positive media coverage for club achievements and partnerships

5. Business Intelligence & Innovation

  • Analyse football and corporate markets to identify growth opportunities
  • Apply international football commercialisation best practices adapted to Malawi
  • Develop innovative business models (digital monetisation, fan ownership, crowdfunding)
  • Set annual commercial targets and report performance to the CEO

6. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with FAM, SULOM, government bodies, sponsors, and partners
  • Represent the Club in commercial and marketing engagements
  • Act as a commercial ambassador for Silver Strikers Football Club

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sports Management, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business development, sponsorship, or marketing
  • Proven track record in securing sponsorships and growing revenue
  • Strong knowledge of the Malawian corporate and football ecosystem
  • Experience in digital marketing, brand activations, and community projects is an added advantage
