TIMANGE ECOBUILD LTD (Habitat for Humanity Malawi) – PRODUCTION MANAGER
Location: Machinjiri, Blantyre
Habitat for Humanity Malawi has established Timange EcoBuild Ltd, a for-profit social enterprise producing sustainable building materials. They are seeking a Production Manager to lead and optimize production operations for stabilized soil bricks (SSBs), pavers, and cement blocks.
Job Summary:
The Production Manager provides overall leadership and coordination of production operations, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency. Reporting to the Managing Director, the role involves strategic planning, financial oversight, compliance, and team management.
Main Responsibilities:
- Strategic & Corporate Leadership: Translate Board decisions into operational plans and targets; prepare performance reports
- Production & Operations Management: Oversee production of SSBs, pavers, and cement blocks; approve production plans and schedules
- Financial Oversight: Review budgets, control expenditure, and ensure financial sustainability
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to technical standards and environmental regulations; implement Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP)
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Promote safety culture, conduct audits, and lead emergency preparedness
- Human Resources & Leadership: Supervise senior staff, promote performance-driven culture, and support skills development
- Market Alignment & Business Development: Coordinate with sales to align production with demand; support product development and market expansion
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a construction field, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing or construction materials production, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/managerial role
- Experience with Hydraform or similar block-making machinery is an added advantage
- Knowledge of sustainable construction practices is highly desirable
Experience Required:
- Proven leadership and team management
- Strong knowledge of SSB and concrete block production processes
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Proficiency in production planning, quality control, and operational optimization
