Evangelical Lutheran Development Service (ELDS) — the development arm of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Malawi (ELCM) — is implementing a 12-month WASH Project (DI WASH 8) in 4 Traditional Authorities of Dowa District, with support from Self Help Africa (Charity: Water Fund).

ELDS invites applications from qualified and motivated candidates for the following positions:

District Project Coordinator (1 Post)

📍 Location: Dowa District

📄 Employment Type: Full Time

🧭 Reports to: Projects Coordinator

🔑 Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate district-level project planning, budgets, and implementation

• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and supervision to Field Officers

• Monitor project performance, documentation, and reporting

• Support monitoring & evaluation and financial oversight

• Liaise with government authorities, partners, and stakeholders

• Represent ELDS at district and local-level forums

🎓 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Public Health, Water Engineering or Water Resources Management

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a coordination role

• Strong knowledge of WASH technologies, waste management, water quality monitoring & treatment

• Experience in community development and NGO/donor-funded projects

• Strong report writing, analytical, and communication skills

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint

• Ability to ride a motorcycle

2️⃣ WASH Field Officer (2 Posts)

📍 Location: Dowa District

📄 Employment Type: Full Time

🧭 Reports to: District Project Coordinator

🔑 Key Responsibilities

• Implement day-to-day WASH activities at community level

• Mobilize communities and facilitate WASH trainings & demonstrations

• Conduct field monitoring visits and support M&E activities

• Work closely with government departments and local structures

• Prepare weekly and monthly activity reports

🎓 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Public Health, Water Engineering or Water Resources Management with 2 years’ experience

OR

• Diploma in the same fields with 5 years’ experience

• Strong knowledge of WASH technologies and hygiene & sanitation approaches

• Good report writing and analytical skills

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint

• Ability to ride a motorcycle
