An international tourism company is seeking a goal-oriented, energetic, and physically strong Malawian individual to fill the position of Head Driver immediately.
Position Overview:
The Head Driver is responsible for overseeing the company's fleet operations, supervising drivers, and ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant transportation services aligned with the company's brand standards.
Requirements:
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) minimum
- Any tertiary qualification related to the field
- Driver's License with category PGD
- Defensive driving certificate
- Additional certifications (e.g., 4x4 handling, advanced fleet management) are an added advantage
- 10 years of professional driving experience with all types of vehicles
- Proven ability to operate 4x4 vehicles, Toyota Quantum, Coaster, 5-tonne truck, 2-tonne truck, and small vehicles
Responsibilities & Duties:
Fleet & Route Management
- Plan and assign routes to maximize efficiency and minimize fuel costs
- Monitor vehicle movements using logbooks or fleet management systems
- Ensure timely delivery and pick-up of vehicles for clients and internal operations
Driver Supervision & Training
- Lead and supervise drivers, ensuring punctuality, professionalism, and adherence to standards
- Conduct training sessions on customer service, safety, and compliance
- Handle driver scheduling and shift rotations
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all drivers follow road safety regulations and company policies
- Oversee vehicle inspections for roadworthiness, insurance, and licensing
- Maintain accurate incident and accident reports
Customer Service
- Guarantee drivers deliver exceptional client experiences through courtesy and professionalism
- Resolve client complaints related to transportation promptly
- Uphold brand image by ensuring vehicles are clean, reliable, and well-presented
Operational Efficiency
- Track fuel consumption and mileage to reduce costs
- Implement strategies to optimize fleet utilization
- Maintain detailed records of transportation activities
Leadership & Supervisory Skills
- Experience managing and supervising a large team of drivers
- Ability to train drivers in customer service, safety, and compliance
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving qualities
- Experience handling operational challenges and customer complaints
- Staying updated with Malawi's transport laws and insurance requirements
Personal Attributes:
