Lighthouse Trust is a registered Public Trust supporting Malawi’s national HIV response through integrated HIV prevention, treatment, care, and support services. It operates in collaboration with the Ministry of Health across major health facilities including Kamuzu Central Hospital, Bwaila Hospital, QECH, Zomba Central Hospital, and Mzuzu Central Hospital.



Position Overview


The Treatment Supporter will provide client-centered support services including counselling, HIV prevention, care, and treatment while fostering a supportive environment for clients.



Key Responsibilities


• Conduct treatment literacy sessions (HIV testing, adherence, viral load monitoring, VMMC, etc.) 

• Mobilize communities and organize sensitization meetings 

• Screen clients for HIV testing eligibility in OPD 

• Distribute HIV self-test kits (facility & community level) 

• Support index testing and referral of contacts 

• Conduct TB, COVID-19, and depression screenings 

• Facilitate referrals for services like cervical cancer screening, PrEP, and family planning 

• Counsel and escort clients initiating/restarting ART 

• Follow up clients not linked to care within 7 days 

• Support linkage to care with community partners 

• Manage appointments, reminders, and follow-ups 

• Trace defaulters through calls and home visits 

• Provide adherence counselling and psychosocial support 

• Support HIV disclosure to partners/family 

• Facilitate Psychosocial Support Group (PSSG) activities 

• Maintain accurate documentation and collaborate with clinic teams 


Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

• Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) 

• Valid motorcycle riding license and riding skills 

• Experience in HIV/AIDS prevention, counselling, care, and support 

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

• Fluent in English and local language 

• Proactive and committed to advancing HIV programs
