POSITION: HEAD DRIVER


Location: Blantyre


OVERVIEW 

Workforce Recruitment Services seeks to recruit for the following position on behalf of a

Client.


INTRODUCTION:


An International based Tourism Company is seeking applicants of Malawian Origin, goal

oriented with strong will power and personality, to fill the position of Head Driver immediately, on a Three year contract, an energetic, strong individual with physical

stamina, hardworking with excellent communication skills.


POSITION OVERVIEW


The Head Driver is responsible for overseeing the company’s fleet operations, supervising drivers, and ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant transportation services.

This role requires strong leadership, technical driving expertise, and a commitment to

delivering premium


Customer service aligned with The Company’s Brand standards.


REQUIREMENTS:


• A minimum of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE)

• Any tertiary qualification related to the field.

• Previous Experience as a Head Driver

• Driver’s License with category PGD

• Defensive driving certificate

• Additional certifications (e.g., 4x4 handling, advanced fleet management) are an Added advantage.

• 10 Years of professional driving experience with different vehicles (All types of Vehicles)

• Proven ability to operate 4x4 vehicles, Toyota Quantum, Coaster, 5 tonne truck, 2 Tonne truck & small vehicles.


RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES OF HEAD DRIVER


• Fleet & Route Management

• Plan and assign routes for drivers to maximize efficiency and minimize fuel costs.

• Monitor vehicle movements using logbooks or fleet management systems.

• Ensure timely delivery and pick-up of vehicles for clients and internal operations.

• Driver Supervision & Training

• Lead and supervise drivers, ensuring punctuality, professionalism, and adherence to company standards.

• Conduct training sessions on customer service, safety, and compliance.

• Handle driver scheduling and shift rotations to balance workloads.

• Compliance & Safety

• Ensure all drivers follow road safety regulations and company policies.

• Oversee vehicle inspections for roadworthiness, insurance, and licensing.

• Maintain accurate incident and accident reports.

• Customer Service

• Guarantee that drivers deliver exceptional client experiences through courtesy and professionalism.

• Resolve client complaints related to transportation promptly.

• Uphold the Company’s brand image by ensuring vehicles are clean, reliable, and well-presented.

• Operational Efficiency

• Track fuel consumption and mileage to reduce costs.

• Implement strategies to optimize fleet utilization.

• Maintain detailed records of transportation activities (driver logs, schedules, reports).

• Marketing and operations to align security messaging with brand credibility.


LEADERSHIP & SUPERVISORY SKILLS


1. Experience in managing & supervising a big team of drivers and scheduling & disciplining them.

2. Ability to train drivers in customer service, safety & compliance.

3. Strong decision making & problem solving qualities, experience in handling operation challenges.

4. Handling customer complaints while maintaining brand credibility.

5. Staying updated with Malawi’s transport laws and insurance requirements.
