HOSPITALITY MANAGER

Fisherman’s Rest Lodge, a community-oriented lodge affiliated with a UK charity, is looking for a passionate and experienced Hospitality Manager to join its team at Mbame Estate in rural Blantyre.
For over 20 years, Fisherman’s Rest has welcomed families, volunteers, church teams, and school groups from around the world, creating a unique and meaningful travel experience connected to local communities.
About the Role:
As Hospitality Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the lodge and ensure guests enjoy a safe, welcoming, and memorable experience from arrival to departure.
This is a hands-on, people-focused role where the successful candidate will live on-site and become part of the Fisherman’s Rest family and surrounding community.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage lodge operations including accommodation, catering, housekeeping, and maintenance
Welcome and brief guests upon arrival
Coordinate guest itineraries and activities
Work closely with community project leaders
Manage bookings, invoicing, and guest communications
Supervise lodge staff and promote excellent customer service
Ensure health, safety, and safeguarding standards are maintained
Handle guest feedback professionally and promptly
Support marketing efforts including social media updates and TAKULANDIRANI events
Maintain operational records and report to UK-based trustees
Requirements:
Proven experience in hospitality, hotel, or lodge management
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Warm, approachable, and culturally sensitive personality
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Comfortable living in a rural, community-based environment
Flexible to work weekends, holidays, and hospitality hours
Passion for community development and cross-cultural engagement
Malawian nationality or legal right to work in Malawi
Good English proficiency (Chichewa is an added advantage)
