POSITION: SOFTWARE DEVELOPER/ENGINEER - INTERN

Location: Lilongwe


Contract Duration: 6 Months

Work Arrangement: Project-Based

Reporting To: ICT, Media and Communications Coordinator

Location: PICC Church Headquarters, [Lilongwe, Area 49]

Pentecost International Christian Centre (PICC) whose mandate is to Bring Hope to the Hopeless and Life to the Dying and Help them Become True Disciples of Jesus Christ, is looking for a highly motivated and flexible Software develop/engineer Intern with a strong foundation in programming. The ideal candidates will be responsible for designing, developing and deploying HOSOM E-Learning Management System. The intern will also assist in developing, deploy and maintaining frontend and backend components of the HOSOM E-Learning Management System.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain frontend and backend components of the HOSOM E-Learning Management (HELM) System

Design and maintain relational database structures.

Prepare technical documentation, API documentation, database documentation, and deployment guides.

Setting up and configuring Linux-based VPS environment for HELM system

Uphold Christian values and maintain a respectful and cooperative attitude in a church setting.

Required skills and Qualifications:

Diploma or Degree in ICT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field and MSCE Certificate.

Proficiency in Software development languages (HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript and Typescript) and frameworks (e.g., Laravel, React, Node.js).

Familiarity with database systems (MySQL, SQL, Firebase, etc.).

Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.

Knowledge or practical experience in using AI-assisted software development tools to support the software development lifecycle (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Google Gemini, Cursor, Codeium/Windsurf, Amazon Q Developer)

Knowledge or practical experience of Virtual Private Server (VPS) environments (Setting up and configuring Linux-based VPS environments).

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Flexible to work on weekends and during church services when required.

A committed Christian and willing to serve in a church environment.
