POSITION: GENERAL ELECTRICIAN 

Location: Rumphi 

OVERVIEW 

H.E. Jackson Engineering Ltd (HEJ) is one of the leading providers of engineering solutions 

in Malawi and serves all sectors of the economy including mining, energy, agriculture, 

construction and manufacturing. The company has an urgent requirement for the following 

Vacancies tenable at its Rumphi Project Site:

Job Title : General Electrician (1)

Nature of Contract : One Year Fixed Term

Duty Station : Rumphi

Reporting to : Workshop Manager

Department : Workshop

Job Summary

The General Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing electrical 

systems in residential, commercial or industrial settings. They ensure all electrical work 

complies with safety standards and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities

❖ Install electrical wiring, lighting systems, outlets and circuit breakers

❖ Inspect, troubleshoot and repair electrical faults or failures

❖ Read and interpret electrical diagrams, blueprints and technical drawings

❖ Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems and equipment

❖ Ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations

❖ Test electrical systems using tools like multimeters and voltmeters

❖ Upgrade or replace outdated electrical components

❖ Work with other technicians, contractors or engineers when needed

❖ Maintain records of work performed and materials used

❖ Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Experience

❖ 2 to 3 years of experience in the field of electrician

❖ Apprenticeship or on-the-job training preferred

❖ Genset and Motors Electrical trouble shooting and problem solving

❖ Experience in residential or commercial electrical work is an advantage

Qualification

❖ Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Installation or related field

❖ Strong attention to safety and preventive practices.
