OVERVIEW
Chipembere Community Development Organisation (CCDO), is a local Malawian non-governmental organization operating in the southern region of Malawi. It is registered with the Government of Malawi and NGORA, and is a member of the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN) and the Grassroots Justice Network. CCDO main focus areas are Education, Health, Livelihood & Climate Change Resilience programmes.
CCDO is seeking a highly experienced and result-driven Fundraising Officer to join its team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in mobilizing financial resources to support CCDO’s programmes in community development, social welfare and sustainable livelihoods. This position requires a strong track record in securing institutional funding, particularly from major international donors such as the European Union (EU), African Union AU-AID and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Fundraising Officer (Part time) will be responsible for developing and implementing effective resource mobilization strategies aligned with CCDO’s mission and strategic objectives.
Core duties include:
1. Grant Acquisition and Proposal Development
Identify funding opportunities from international donors, bilateral agencies, foundations, and corporate partners.
Lead the preparation, writing, and submission of high-quality grant proposals and concept notes.
Ensure proposals meet donor guidelines, priorities, and compliance requirements.
Collaborate with programme and finance teams to develop realistic budgets and results frameworks.
2. Donor Relationship Management
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with potential donors, including EU, Delegations, AU agencies, and FCDO representatives. And AU-AID
Represent CCDO in donor meetings, conferences, and networking events.
Provide timely updates, reports, and communications to donors to maintain transparency and trust.
3. Resource Mobilization Strategy
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to diversify funding sources.
Conduct market research on emerging funding trends and donor priorities.
Identify innovative financing mechanisms and strategic partnerships to enhance organisational sustainability.
4. Monitoring and Reporting
Work closely with programme teams to ensure funded projects are implemented according to donor agreements.
Prepare and submit high-quality narrative and financial reports in compliance with donor requirements.
Monitor project performance indicators and ensure accountability in the use of funds.
5. Capacity Building and Internal Coordination
Train and support CCDO staff in proposal development and donor compliance.
Strengthen internal systems for fundraising documentation, tracking, and reporting.
Coordinate across departments to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities.
Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Community Development, Development Studies, or a related field is required.
A minimum of 5–7 years of proven experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations within the NGO or development sector.
Demonstrate success in securing grants from major international donors such as the EU, AU-AID, and FCDO is essential.
Strong understanding of international development frameworks, donor compliance and project cycle management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce compelling proposals and reports.
Strong negotiation, networking, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
