JOB DESCRIPTION & PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Job Title: Teacher of Girls PE and Sports

Role Overview


The Girls Physical Education & Sports Teacher will be responsible for promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, discipline, and holistic student development through the effective teaching of Physical Education and the coordination of girls’ sporting activities. The successful candidate will contribute to both the academic and extracurricular life of the school while fostering teamwork, resilience, and healthy lifestyles among students.


Main Duties and Responsibilities


• Teach Physical Education to students across designated year groups to a consistently high standard.

• Organize, supervise, and promote girls’ sporting activities and competitions.

• Coach and mentor students in various sports disciplines.

• Promote fitness, teamwork, discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship among students.

• Prepare students for inter-school competitions and sporting events.

• Maintain accurate records of student progress, participation, and achievement.

• Run and support co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

• Ensure a safe learning environment and uphold school discipline in and out of the classroom.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues, boarding staff, and parents to support student development.

• Track, monitor, and support student progress, with a clear focus on raising attainment.

• Maintain clear and consistent expectations for behaviour and engagement in the classroom.

• Contribute to the development and refinement of schemes of work across the department.

• Produce and share high-quality teaching resources to support student learning.

• Set and mark prep regularly, in line with school and departmental expectations.

• Support students with Individual Learning Plans through appropriate differentiation.

• Engage with professional development and actively seek to improve classroom practice.


Skills & Qualifications


• Minimum of a Degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.

• Recognized teaching qualification.

• Experience teaching in a secondary school setting.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to motivate and inspire students academically and personally.

• ICT literacy for teaching and learning purposes.


Desirable Qualifications & Experience


• Experience teaching Cambridge curriculum or equivalent.

• Experience coaching multiple sports disciplines.

• Experience organizing school sports fixtures and events.

• Evidence of continuous professional development.
