OVERVIEW 

Pothawira Health Center is located in the Salima District, approximately two miles from Msangu Market along the Senga Bay Road. The facility comprises a general outpatient clinic, a dedicated birthing unit, and a newly established state-of-the-art surgical center. Together, these services provide comprehensive, patient-centered care across a full spectrum of medical and surgical needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform general and bariatric surgical procedures, including minimally invasive and laparoscopic cases

Manage preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient care

Conduct hospital rounds and oversee inpatient surgical patients, including bariatric cases

Evaluate, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for surgical patients

Monitor postoperative progress and manage complications as needed

Collaborate with Anesthetics, Surgical Assistants, and hospital staff to ensure continuity of care

Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR system

Ensure compliance with all hospital protocols, Medical Council of Malawi regulations, and surgical standards

Requirements for qualification.

Bachelor of Science in General surgery from a recognised institution

Minimum of 2 years working experience in a busy setting

In good standing with the Medical Council of Malawi.
