INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND

Lilongwe Handling Company Limited (LIHACO) is a wholly Malawi Government owned commercial entity established in 2000. The core business of the company is to provide to provide passenger, ramp and cargo handling services to national and international airlines, travel & tour and lounge services to passengers traveling in and out of Malawi Airports. The Company is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position at Bakili Muluzi International Airport and Kamuzu International Airport.

Post:                    Porter (LH 10)

Responsible to:             Senior Porter

Responsible for:            None

Purpose:                  To provide loading and offloading services.

Main Duties

Attend briefing meetings before aircraft arrival and debriefing after departure.

Position onto and remove from aircraft non-motorized equipment.

Loads and offloads passenger baggage, cargo, and mail onto and from aircraft.

Loads and offloads baggage, cargo, and mail onto and from baggage trolleys and dollies.

Load Baggage into ULDs

Ensure safety and security during aircraft handling.

Receive checked in baggage from Customer Services Assistant and direct it for screening and identification.

Clean ramp equipment

Raising guides and safety rails on conveyor belt loader

Act as a guide man when positioning and removing GSE at aircraft.

Transferring baggage from check in counters to the sorting area

Collecting foreign object debris

Report hazards and safety risks during ramp operations.

Education Qualification

Minimum of MSCE

Work Experience

None

Other Requirements

Physically fit and capable of undertaking the demands of the role.

Willing to undergo and successfully pass a rigorous pre-employment medical examination
