Background

Banja La Mtsogolo (BLM) is a Malawian Non-Governmental Healthcare Organization

established in 1987. BLM provides quality Family Planning and Reproductive Healthcare services, including HIV/AIDS information and interventions. BLM is a senior member of the Marie Stopes International (MSI) Partnership, which operates in 43 countries.

We exist to improve the quality of life in Malawi through family planning and reproductive healthcare services. We serve over 800,000 clients annually and make a significant contribution to national family planning objectives. The organization has national coverage, operating through 23 clinics and numerous outreach clinic sites.

position:

Social Business Marketing Officer

Direct reporting line: Senior Advocacy & Marketing Manager

Parallel reporting line: Commercial Services Director

Location: Support Office-Lilongwe

Role Purpose

The Social Business Marketing Officer is responsible for building awareness and positive perceptions of the BLM brand and driving increased footfall and revenue through effective marketing of services and sharing of positive client experiences. This includes development and regular management of the marketing strategy and budget, measurement and reporting of key marketing metrics and overseeing production of all marketing collateral focusing on pillar 2 and Pillar 3.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver Comprehensive Marketing Strategy

Commission and utilize market research, consumer insights, and segmentation to inform effective and impactful integrated marketing strategies and tactics2

Drive the implementation of an innovative and comprehensive marketing strategy to raise awareness of Banja La Mtsogolo’s profile and to increase the impact of its services.

Develop and implement consumer-led marketing activation plans and communication mix to build client awareness, product/service uptake and brand loyalty.

Leverage global brand toolkits and tailor communication strategies (medium and messaging) to best meet client segment’s needs and adapt to local cultural, social and political environments.

Oversee direct media buying activities including print, online, radio and television, and provide guidance on which advertising to choose and how best to apply it.

Lead the development and execution of a monthly content plan for digital channels (website and social media) in coordination with clinical and operations teams. This will include creating content planners, content, uploading content on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and responding to customer feedback

Engage with Centres and Social Marketing channel Leads to coordinate below-the-line activations and provide marketing collateral as required

Analyse and Leverage Market Data to Improve Performance

Track key engagement and conversion metrics and review quarterly to continually adjust and improve on tactics and media

Continuously gain knowledge of and analyse current market trends in SRH and competitor activity to identify opportunities and tackle arising threats.

Monitor client feedback and work with Centres, Social Marketing, and Clinical Quality Leads to develop strategies for improving the client experience

Work with the Contact Centre Supervisor to monitor data and adjust and improve the client journey

Engage and manage external vendors and partnerships

Oversee the selection, contracting and ongoing management of creative, digital and media agencies and monitor their work to ensure it adheres to our brand manual, tone and positioning

Coordinate and brief external agencies to ensure the requirements for new projects are met and delivered on time.

Sourcing and securing sponsorships (both financial and non-financial) for marketing initiatives from our partners to help promote BLM work.

Key Skills

Brand strategy and strategic thinking: good understanding of how brand strategy drives business results and client engagement

Creative Problem Solving: able to develop innovative solutions to overcome marketing challenges

Data Analysis: Proficiency in analyzing marketing metrics, including digital metrics, and translating data into actionable insights

Media Planning & Strategy: Balancing reach, frequency, and budget constraints and seasonal campaign planning

Digital marketing: a strong understanding of key digital platforms and how to leverage them effectively

Negotiation and relationship management with media vendors and agencies

Excellent communication skills – written and verbal skills. Very fluent English language skills required.

Highly developed planning and organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects to deliver with quality and on time

Ability to work and build relationships , with good influencing and negotiation skills

IT proficient with ability to utilize wide range of system and software i.e office suite, canva e.t.c

Qualifications and Experience

Degree in relevant field, such as marketing, business, or communications or extensive practical experience

At least 2 years of experience in direct to consumer brand marketing, preferably in the healthcare space

Experience developing and/or evaluating brand concepts and translating into actionable campaigns

Experience translating market insights into effective marketing strategy

Experience building and executing successful digital campaigns
