Malawi Council for Disability Affairs (MACODA)

The Malawi Council for Disability Affairs (MACODA), is a Statutory body established by the Persons with Disabilities Act (No. 4 of 2024).

MACODA’s core mandated is to promote and protect rights and freedoms of persons with disabilities. The Council is an enforcement agency of the Act and is mandated to investigate and carry out inquiries into violations of rights of persons with disabililies. The Council also champions disability programming as well as steering disability mainstreaming in the country’s development including promotion of multisectoral coordination and collaboration; development of standards and guidelines on a rights-based for disability service provision; regulating disability services and programs; promotion of measures and interventions aimed at promoting the realisation of rights of persons with disabilities and registration of persons with disabilities as well as organisations, associations and institutions implementing disability programs.

MACODA is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the tollowing vacant positions existing in the Council.



Job Title: Internal Auditor

Grade: MCD 6

Reporting to: The Director General

Responsible for: Auditing all financial and material resources for MACODA

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning and executing risk-based audits at MACODA head office, MACODA factory Kamuzu and Lilongwe Vocational Training Centre, District offices, and projects spread across the country.
  • Prepare audit reports and track implementation of recommendations.
  • Identify internal controls weaknesses and recommend improvements.
  • Designing, developing and reviewing internal audit policies. procedures and systems.
  • Investigating and reporting on any incidents of fraud, thefts and other incidents occasioned by failure in internal control systems.
  • Monitoring and reporting on adherence to statutes, policies and regulations governing MACODA and its operating environment.
  • Facilitating redress through litigation, recovery and claims for losses incurred by the Council.
  • Liaising with and providing support to external auditors during statutory audits.

Qualifications and Experience




Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or any related fields obtained from an accredited institution with 5 years working experience in a busy organisation. Should be a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Malawi.

  • Wide knowledge of the country’s public finance management laws.
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting and auditing standards.
  • Be conversant with audit procedures for programs and projects.
  • Experience in carrying out investigations.
  • Sound communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Excellent decision making, good judgement and sound planning.
  • Be computer literate and innovative.
  • Be well versed in risk management.
