POSITION: DATA OFFICER

Location: Lilongwe



OVERVIEW

CCAP Nkhoma Synod Health Department invites applications from suitably qualified and well experienced applicants for the position of Data Officer (Grade I) tenable at Nkhoma Mission Hospital in Lilongwe District. This is a One year (12 months) Employment Contract.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Designing a REDCap database to monitor the use of endoscopy services at Nkhoma Mission Hospital.

2. Inputting, managing, curating, and reporting endoscopy data within REDCap to monitor and demonstrate the impact of the Boston Scientific endoscopy grant on clinical outcomes, training, service delivery, and research.

3. Preparing and supporting internal, external monitoring visits and audits and implementing corrective actions based on the findings.

4. Generating regular dashboards, analytic exports, and ad hoc reports for PAACS leadership, clinical investigators, and Boston Scientific.

5. Preparing datasets for analysis and publication.

6. Liaising with PAACS program staff, Boston Scientific contacts, statisticians, and site teams on project activities.

7. Attending project meetings and providing progress updates.

8. Ensuring adherence to Hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements in all endoscopy processes.

9. Ensuring regularly review and updating protocols to align with quality and safety best practices.

10. Any other duties deemed reasonable for the post.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES

• Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science/Computer Science/Statistics/Public Health or its equivalent from a recognized training Institution.

• Must have a minimum of two years’ of demonstrated work experience in data management, statistical research or monitoring and Evaluation (M&E).

• Must have a solid understanding of clinical environments, medical terminology, and patient interaction.

• Must have ability to work effectively within a diverse, international, and multi-cultural team.

• Must demonstrate mastery of standard office software for data entry, report generation, and presentation building. This includes utilizing Excel for tracking research metrics, Word for drafting protocols, and PowerPoint for collaborator meetings.

• Must be comfortable navigating digital filing systems. Prior experience with electronic medical records (EMR) or research databases is a significant advantage.

• Must be detail oriented.

• Must have high degree of flexibility to pivot between different projects and handle the unpredictable nature of surgical research.

• Must demonstrate emotional and professional maturity to work effectively within a resource-limited setting.
