POSITION: LAB TECHNICIAN

OVERVIEW
Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO) is a locally registered nongovernmental organization (NGO) established in 1995 to complement Government’s efforts in in the fight against HIV and AIDS and other health related issues.
MACRO’s Vision is “Malawi populace free of ill-Health” and its Mission is “Transform lives of Malawians through provision of high-quality HIV and AIDS, and other health related services”.
With funding from CDC, MACRO is implementing the IMPACT Project whose purpose is: To strengthen effective measures to address unmet needs for HTS in the CDC supported districts towards the attainment of 95-95-95 goals.
MACRO invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions under IMPACT Project
Job Title: Lab Technician
Reports to: Clinic Incharge
Location: Mzuzu
About the Role: To carry out medical laboratory procedures according to the prevailing operational guidelines to ensure delivery of laboratory services that satisfy clients’ needs.
Key Duties
Perform diagnostic laboratory tests (hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.).
Ensure proper handling of samples and maintain quality standards.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
Prepare accurate laboratory reports for clinicians.
Education Qualifications
Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution
Registered with the Medical Council of Malawi.
Minimum of 2 years’ working experience in a hospital/clinical laboratory.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage conflicts in a team
Competence in conducting various laboratory tests
Sound decision making and problem-solving skills
Excellent quality and customer care skills
Ability to use various medical equipment
