POSITION: WAREHOUSE INTERNS (2 POSITIONS)

BACKGROUND
Banja La Mtsogolo (BLM) is a Malawian Non-Governmental Healthcare Organization established in 1987. BLM provides quality Family Planning and Reproductive Healthcare including HIV/AIDS information and interventions. BLM is a senior member of the Marie Stopes International (MSI) Partnership which works in 43 countries. We exist to improve quality of life in Malawi through family planning and reproductive health care services. We serve over 800,000 clients annually and makes a significant contribution to national family planning objectives. The organization has national coverage, operating through 23 clinics, and numerous outreach clinic sites.

Warehouse Interns (2 Positions)
Location: Support Office, Lilongwe
Reporting Line: Pharmacist & Warehouse Manager
Job Purpose
The Warehouse Interns will support the BLM Supply Chain Team in ensuring the efficient management of healthcare commodities and warehouse operations. They will assist in maintaining uninterrupted availability of family planning commodities by supporting warehouse activities, inventory management, coordination with the Ministry of Health (MoH), and monitoring key supply chain performance indicators to ensure efficient distribution of medical supplies to BLM service delivery sites.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
• Assist the Pharmacist & Warehouse Manager to provide technical support to the Logistics office at MoH-Reproductive Health Directorate (MoH-RHD) in ensuring consistent and adequate availability of Family Planning commodities,in public health facilities in Malawi.
• Schedule and implement the routine redistribution of Family Planning commodities in coordination with RHD-MoH officials, district pharmacy incharge, district Family planning coordinator and other stakeholders to ensure all-time availability of FP commodities at public health facilities.
• Support the district and facility health to ensure timely nd quality data reporting in the OpenLMIS
• Work closely with the Pharmacist & Warehouse Manager in managing relationships and maintaining routine communications with the supply chain teams from MoHRHD, district and facility and other stakeholders.
• Generate and share the monthly and quarterly stock status reports of Family Planning commodities.
• Support the pharmacist & Warehouse Manager in conducting the Commodity Accountability Performance Tracking activity and monitoring and evaluation of supply chain key performance indicators.
• Support the MoH-RHD with quarterly supportive supervision, redistribution of Family planning commodities and data review activities for Family Planning supply chain related activities.
• Support the planning and implementation of BLM’s Central warehouse activities
• Perform other duties as required and assigned by the supervisor.
Monitoring and Evaluation
• Monitor the FP commodity Supply Chain-Key performance Indicators, such as stockout rate, reporting rate, stock-imbalances and identify opportunities for strategic interventions to ensure uninterrupted availability of FP commodities at facility level.
Anti-Fraud, Bribery and Corruption
• In collaboration with the BLM and MSI Internal Audit teams ensure that a comprehensive programme of internal audits across all the activities of BLM’ supply chain and that action plans and recommendations are strictly enforced.
• Ensure compliance with BLM and MSI protocols on anti-fraud, bribery and corruption and take responsibility for inducting new staff and tacking appropriate disciplinary action if protocols are breached.
• Lead and model BLM’s zero tolerance policy towards all fraud, bribery and corruption.
• External and Internal Representation
• Develop and maintain productive relationships with MoH-RHD logistics office and other implementing partners; building links and relations that will enable efficient operations of supply chain activities.
• Represent BLM and MSI in relevant forums as requested including advocating on family planning issues in line with BLM’s strategies and priorities.
• Identify opportunities for partnerships.
• Role model MSI’s core values and demonstrate MSI behaviours at all times.
Qualifications
• University degree, from accredited institution of higher learning, in Supply Chain and Logistics.
• Deploma in Pharmacy from accredited institution of higher learning
• Experience in supporting the management of supply chain of Family Planning commodities at national level.
• Experience in managing healthcare supply chain of donor-funded projects will be an added advantage
Skills and Experience
• Knowledge and experience of Malawi’s public healthcare supply chain.
• Able to develop and articulate a clear supply chain strategic vision and operationalise this into workplans.
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
• A proven ability to work as part of a team and to be self-managing.
• Demonstrable skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Excel, Word and Power Point.
