POSITION: ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT


JOB OVERVIEW

Ilinga Private Primary School is a developing learning institution situated at Chitipa Boma with the mission of educating pupils to become responsible global citizens. In our quest to realise our mission, the School invites applications from suitably matured, qualified and motivated Malawians

for the position of Assistant Accountant tenable at Ilinga Private Primary School on a fixed term contract.

The School started its operations on 16 September, 2024.

Purpose of the Job

The primary purpose of Assistant Accountant at Ilinga is to support school management by

maintaining accurate day- to- day financial records, process transactions, and reconcile accounts,

ensuring financial operations run smoothly and that data is prepared for auditing and reporting.

Person Specifications

• A holder of the Malawi School Certificate of Education with Credits in Mathematics and

English

• A holder of Diploma in Accounting or Finance from recognized bodies

• Applicants with considerable experience in a similar position will have added advantage

• A holder of a National Identity

• Computer proficiency, preferably Word and Excel

Job Description

Reporting to the School Director, the Job holder will among other responsibilities, be responsible

for:

• preparing and pay salaries for all staff.

• making timely payments to the school suppliers.

• assisting in managing the school’s approved budget, paying attention to budgetary

expenditure control measures.

• writing financial reports for external audits.

• assisting the institution in developing institution’s financial strategies to ensure the school

achieves sustainability in its operations.

• issuing receipts.

• reconciling accounts payable and receivable.

• ensuring the institution complies with government regulations and obligations, including,

but not limited to taxation and auditing.

• maintaining proper filling of accounting vouchers and electronic databases.

• attending school management meetings.
