POSITION: COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER


Location: Blantyre 


OVERVIEW 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Communications Officer for TotalEnergies Marketing Malawi Limited. This position is tenable at the Head Office in Blantyre, in the Corporate Affairs department.


JOB DIMENSIONS

• This job is located within the affiliate and requires some travel mainly within the country. 

• The person in charge will have to manage the corporate digital platforms and ensure they’re up to date.

• Handle all internal communication and oversee content of all external communication.

• Fuel industry is government regulated. 

• Unstable currency

• Be on the forefront of all CSR activities

• Custodian of marketing material


ACTIVITIES

• Keep the affiliate’s digital sites (website, WAT, Facebook, Linkedin, etc.) up to date with relevant information and when and as required

• Handle internal communication through available tools (notice boards, emails, Whatsapp, etc.)

• Ensure optimized usage of IT tools and promote new ones

• Ensure anticipated and updated communication planning

• Propose and coordinate the digital roadmap and its action plans

• Propose annual budget for Corporate, Marketing and Public Relationship communication activities

• Develop and implement the annual communication program for the company (advertisement, promotions, launches, CSR, etc.)

• Track budget expenditure: design feedback mechanism to ensure measure impact of all programs

• Select, brief, review and approve proposals/concepts from advertising and media agencies 

• Ensure optimum readiness in unlikely event of media drawing crisis or news item with concise and accurate information

• Ensure adherence to company norms and standards

• Participate in the procurement and control distribution of promotional and advertising materials

• Control issue of marketing materials such as promotional and advertising materials from the stores.

• Identify and propose new activities that could promote the image and business of the company as well as oversee their implementation.

• Liaise with the media houses in identifying strategic opportunities to promote the company’s business.

• Develop strategic alliances with major distributors, manufacturers, and other marketing firms through marketing agreements.

• Develop, propose and oversee communication and promotional campaigns in support of new or existing business opportunities. 

• Handle and guide on concepts graphic designs and modifications to artwork

• Conduct market surveys about the company’s products, services and brand perception

• Manage, promote and coordinate Innovation for TML and in line with Group guidance

• Regular interaction with H/O to anticipate requirements

• Ensure effective communication and dissemination of HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) policies and procedures to promote compliance and safeguard the well-being of all stakeholders.

• Develop and disseminate HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) communications materials, including artworks, posters, and digital content, to enhance awareness and promote a culture of safety within the organisation.

• Complaints Management by tracking all reported complaints in Salsa and Custodian of the Complaints Management phone


COMPLIANCE

• Adhere to the company policies and enforce the safety standards

• Model adherence to company policies and programs on Anticorruption, Antibribery, Economic Sanctions and Competition Law


ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Ensuring all organizational collateral, from digital ads to reports, adheres to brand guidelines

• Writing and distributing employee newsletters, memos, and announcements to maintain a cohesive company culture


QUALIFICATIONS,EXPERIENCE & ATTIBUTES

• A Minimum qualification: A degree in Marketing, Public Relations or Business Administration from a recognized institution as a minimum. Post graduate qualifications in Business Management (MBA) and Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) are desirable

• Minimum years post qualifying experience: Three years

• Type of experience: Communication related, marketing, writing, agency exposure.
