POSITION: SENIOR ICT OFFICER (SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER)


Location: Chiradzulu 





OVERVIEW 

The Catholic University of Malawi invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the following positions tenable at Montfort Campus, Nguludi, Chiradzulu.



Position: Senior ICT Officer (Systems Programmer) – 1 post



Key Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborating with departments and customers to identify end-user requirements and specifications;

Designing algorithms and flowcharts to create new software programs and systems;

Producing efficient and elegant code-based requirements;

Troubleshooting, debugging, maintaining and improving existing software;

Compiling and assessing user feedback to improve software performance;

Observing user feedback to recommend improvements to existing software products;

Developing technical documentation to guide future software developments projects.

Attributes and Competencies

Technical Proficiency: Strong command of core programming languages and relational databases. Should be able to implement modern concepts in APIs and Microservices.

Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex system errors and debug large code bases using a variety of tools.

Writing and Fixing Code: Run diagnostic tests to identify errors, fix faulty code lines. Translate design specifications and logic into clean, functional code using languages like Python, JavaScript, C#, PHP and SQL.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in either Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or relevant fields; with three (3) years relevant work experience.
