POSITION: AGRIBUSINESS OFFICER
Location: Mulanje
OVERVIEW
Mulanje Mission Hospital is inviting applications from suitably qualified and motivated candidates for the position of Agribusiness Officer under its Sustainable Livelihoods Programme.
Duty Station: Mulanje Mission Hospital
Contract: Project-based
Duration: 2 years
Grade: Grade I
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead business development for honey, beeswax, chilli and dried fruit enterprises.
- Develop business plans, pricing strategies and profitability analyses.
- Build and manage supplier networks and supply agreements.
- Oversee production, processing, stock control and procurement.
- Develop and enforce SOPs, food hygiene and quality standards.
- Lead compliance and certification processes with the Malawi Bureau of Standards.
- Support product development, packaging, labelling, sales and marketing.
- Maintain digital records and prepare regular production and performance reports.
- Train staff, producer groups and suppliers.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Development Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
- Preferably 3 years’ relevant experience in agribusiness, value chains or food processing.
- Experience in commercial and financial management.
- Experience in supply chain management or procurement.
- Knowledge of quality assurance, food safety and MBS compliance.
- Strong digital record-keeping and MS Excel skills.
- Good communication skills in English and Chichewa.
