POSITION: MECHANIC

Location: Zomba

OVERVIEW

The Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitable qualified Malawians to fill the following vacant positions existing at ZOMBA CITY COUNCIL.

POST: Mechanic

GRADE: M8/K

SALARY: Within the range of Grade M8 salary scale segment

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have an MSCE plus Diploma in Automobile Mechanics/ Motor Vehicle mechanics obtained from recognized institutions, with at least 2 years’ experience.

DUTIES

Replacing and repairing faulty vehicle parts.

Filling in workshop job cards.

Supervise all workshop staff and produce monthly workshop reports.

Produce a vehicle diagnosis report after an accident.

Updating vehicle service records

Perform vehicle test drive after and before vehicles undergo services.

Maintaining a vehicle database of spare parts in the vehicles repair garage.

Producing a vehicle status report and recommending vehicles that are not road worthy for board-off or rehabilitation.

Planning and preparing all council vehicles for road fitness tests.

Certifying the road fitness of vehicles after undergoing vehicle maintenance.

Assigning tasks to the workshop team.

Initiating workshop job cards

Any other duties as assigned from time-to-time.
