POSITION: EDUCATION PROGRAMMING & TRAINING SPECIALIST

Location: Lilongwe


OVERVIEW

Peace Corps, an agency of the United States Government, has an immediate opening for an Education Programming & Training Specialist (PTS). The PTS is responsible for ensuring that the Programming and Training Team effectively trains, supports, and facilitates the work of Education Peace Corps Volunteers (PCVs) in Malawi. The PTS, working with the Education Program Manager (EPM), is responsible for key elements in the overall management of the Education Program in Malawi including responding to partner organizations, preparing reports and correspondence, documenting PCV activities, building the capacity of Education PCVs and Malawian counterparts to achieve the objectives of the Education Program with high impact development activities and strong cross-cultural relationships. The PTS travels across Malawi to support Volunteers.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Education Program Manager (EPM).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor’s Degree in Education Science, with a preference for those majoring in Science, Mathematics, or a STEM-related field.

At least 5 years of professional experience in a secondary education classroom setting, with experience that includes education programming, or teacher development, or curriculum development, preferably with experience in STEM-related subjects.

At least 3 years of experience designing and facilitating teacher training, professional development, or other education-related capacity-building activities.

At least 2 years of experience coaching, mentoring, or providing technical support to teachers and/or educators and/or counterparts.

At least 2 years of experience working with public schools, government education authorities, teacher training institutions, or other education-sector partners.

Demonstrated effectiveness working in a team setting

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with demonstrated experience in managing complex conversations to achieve positive outcomes

Able to read, write, and speak English and Chichewa fluently

Intermediate level Monitoring and Evaluation skills to include data collection and analysis

Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneDrive) or related platforms such as Google Drive or Zoom
