POSITION: BIOMASS PLANT MACHINE OPERATOR
Location: Lilongwe
BACKGROUND
ETG Climate Solutions is establishing a biomass production facility in Lilongwe, Malawi. The plant will play a key role in developing a reliable biomass value chain covering feedstock aggregation, processing, densification, storage, logistics, and supply to industrial customers. The business will serve customers across sectors including dairy, breweries, food processing, tobacco, tea, manufacturing, industrial boilers, and clean cooking, helping them reduce their reliance on conventional fossil fuels through cost-effective, sustainable biomass alternatives. The Machine Operator will be responsible for smooth running and maintenance of machinery in the biomass plant to ensure good quality of the finished products.
Duties and Responsibilities
Set up and operate biomass pelletizing machines as per feedstock/blending requirements.
Monitor machine parameters and adjust settings to maintain consistent pellet quality and production output.
Inspect feedstock to ensure it is free from sand, stones, metal particles, and excessive moisture.
Supervise raw-material feeding labour and ensure the required feedstock is available for the shift.
Identify and troubleshoot basic machine and process-related issues.
Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic preventive maintenance.
Monitor pellet quality and supervise finished-product bagging and handling.
Maintain production records and ensure compliance with health, safety, and housekeeping standards.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering City & Guilds or Level 3 Certificate in General Fitting
Experience: 2–5 years of experience in operating biomass pellet mills, briquette machines, feed mills, wood-processing equipment, or similar industrial machinery.
Skills: Candidates should have good knowledge and skills of mechanical equipment troubleshooting, preventive and breakdown maintenance, machine operation, and industrial safety.
