POSITION: ELECTRICIAN
OVERVIEW
A hydropower station situated within a Tea Estate in Mulanje District, wishes to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced Electrician to join its Generation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the power stations and will report directly to the Generation Manager.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Generation Manager, the Electrician will be responsible for:
a) Carrying out electrical work to a high standard, with the diligence necessary to avoid endangering plant or personnel.
b) Conducting and managing all electrical aspects of assigned projects, including wiring, terminating, energising, and commissioning, and ensuring spares, components, tools, and equipment are ordered sufficiently in advance to avoid delays or unnecessary downtime.
c) Ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the power stations following commissioning.
d) Responding promptly to faults and minimising power station downtime.
e) Maintaining accurate records of electrical stores, spares, and generation data.
f) Reporting generation data promptly, together with any concerns or information pertinent to senior management.
g) Maintaining channels of communication with relevant authorities, including ESCOM and Lujeri management.
h) Ensuring adequate security of assets on site and maintaining good housekeeping and a tidy presentation of the work area.
Qualifications and Key Requirements
1. Formal electrical training, with a minimum of two years' relevant experience.
2. Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills in English and Chichewa.
3. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
4. A valid driving licence.
5. Strong analytical ability, with the capacity to investigate issues and identify practical solutions.
6. Resident in Mulanje, or willing to relocate to Mulanje.
