The Problem We Solve

Millions of opportunities go unseen in rural Malawi

Talented people in underserved communities face an invisible wall: they never hear about the scholarships, jobs, grants and programs that could transform their lives — not because they don't qualify, but because those opportunities only reach people with reliable internet, smartphones and digital literacy.

The result: a talent gap that costs communities their best futures and costs organisations the diverse workforce they are actively searching for. Mvungi Community Hubs exist to close that gap permanently.

No Internet Access

Most rural households lack reliable broadband or affordable mobile data.

Missed Deadlines

Scholarship and job deadlines pass before word reaches remote villages.

No Career Guidance

No mentors, coaches or career centres exist in many rural districts.

Digital Exclusion

Without computer access, online applications remain completely out of reach.

The Network

What Is the Mvungi Community Hub Network?

A growing network of physical access points, each staffed by trained community agents, that bring the full Mvungi platform experience to people who cannot access it online.

Why We Exist

Millions of talented people in rural and peri-urban Malawi are invisible to employers, scholarship providers and NGOs simply because of where they live. Mvungi Community Hubs make them visible and give them a genuine chance.

Who We Serve

School leavers, graduates, artisans, women re-entering the workforce, farmers seeking agri-business funding, and anyone looking for jobs, scholarships, grants or career support — free of charge.

How It Works

A trained hub agent sits with every visitor, helps them create a Mvungi profile, discover relevant opportunities, complete applications, and follow through — turning potential into real outcomes.

Real Life Impact

One Visit. One Changed Life.

A young woman in a rural village who completed secondary school — but has no internet access and no knowledge of available scholarships.

Without the Hub

  • She may never hear about scholarship programs.
  • She does not know how to complete online applications.
  • She misses deadlines due to lack of information.
  • No one in her village can help her prepare a CV.
  • Her talent remains invisible to the world.

With the Mvungi Community Hub

  • She learns about active scholarship opportunities.
  • A hub agent helps her prepare all application documents.
  • Her application is submitted online before the deadline.
  • She receives career guidance and digital skills training.
  • Her potential is now visible — and her future is different.

The same principle applies to a carpenter seeking clients, a farmer seeking grants, or a young entrepreneur looking for business support programs.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is a Mvungi Community Hub?
A Mvungi Community Hub is a physical, staffed space in a community — typically a room or small office — where trained agents help local people access the Mvungi platform. Think of it as a free career and opportunity centre serving your neighbourhood.
Is it really free for community members?
Yes, completely free. We are funded through NGO partnerships, donor support and corporate sponsorships so that the barrier of cost never prevents someone from accessing opportunity.
Who can walk into a hub?
Anyone. Students, school leavers, graduates, artisans, women returning to work, farmers, informal workers — anyone looking for jobs, scholarships, grants or career support is welcome, at no cost whatsoever.
How can our organisation partner with the hub network?
We welcome NGO, donor, training, corporate and government partnerships. Visit our contact page and select "Community Hub Partnership" to start a conversation with our team.
How can a community request a new hub?
If you believe your community would benefit from a Mvungi Hub, use the "Suggest a Location" button on this page or contact us directly. We evaluate all requests based on community need and feasibility.
What qualifications do hub agents have?
Hub agents are trained by Mvungi in digital literacy, opportunity navigation, CV writing support and application assistance. We prioritise recruiting agents from within the communities they serve.
