POSITION: TEMPORARY METER ARTISANS (80 POSITIONS)
Duty Stations: Northern, Central and Southern Regions
Grade: ES12
Duration: Three (3) Months
Reports to: Grid Sanitisation Project Supervisors
1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Temporary Meter Artisans.
The successful candidates will be responsible for inspecting customer premises and electrical infrastructure to ensure compliance with Malawi Wiring Standards, identifying and addressing illegal electricity connections, and rectifying meter defects.
2. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidates will be responsible for:
1. Inspecting electrical installations at customer premises to ensure compliance with Malawi Wiring Standards.
2. Inspecting pole-top equipment and service cables to identify illegal connections and unmetered electricity supplies.
3. Checking electricity meter functionality and resolving unreported meter faults.
4. Rectifying reported defects and correcting unauthorized system alterations, service connections, meter tampering and bypasses.
5. Conducting door-to-door meter audits in designated hotspot areas.
6. Preparing and submitting daily work reports to the Project Supervisor.

4. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
- Must be between 25 and 40 years of age.
- Must possess a Certificate in Electrical Engineering, City & Guilds Level 2, National Trade Test Level 2, or an equivalent qualification.
