NATIONAL BANK OF MALAWI PLC – FINANCIAL REPORTING MANAGER

Location: Head Office, Blantyre

Reporting to: Chief Finance Officer

National Bank of Malawi plc, a leading financial institution, is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the position of Financial Reporting Manager.

Job Purpose:

To manage the financial reporting process by maintaining financial records in compliance with IFRSs, preparing regulatory and external financial reports, managing tax affairs, fixed assets, MIS reports, and coordinating resolution of audit issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance systems for maintaining financial records in compliance with IFRSs
  • Prepare and submit regular regulatory reports
  • Prepare external financial reports and annual financial statements
  • Coordinate with business units to ensure Expected Credit Losses (ECLs) and provisions are fairly presented
  • Manage tax affairs of the Bank and its subsidiaries
  • Manage the Bank's fixed assets
  • Facilitate financial planning and reporting with detailed variance analysis
  • Provide MIS reports
  • Ensure resolution of internal and external audit issues

Requirements:

  • Chartered Accountant – CA(M) or equivalent with at least 7 years' post-qualification experience
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field is an added advantage
  • Minimum 3 years' experience at managerial level in financial services or a reputable external audit firm
  • Excellent understanding and application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs)
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to develop and supervise direct reports
  • Good understanding of commercial banking industry, financial products, and market trends
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet exacting deadlines
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (Financial Services Act, Banking Act, RBM Directives, Company Law, Taxation Law)
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office, MIS applications (Cognos), and core banking systems
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated with strong drive
