MAGUNDA ASSEMBLIES OF GOD CHURCH – PROGRAM OFFICER
Location: Thyolo (GVH Kasalika, T/A Nanseta)
Magunda Assemblies of God Church is planning to embark on a Child Development Program in partnership with Compassion International – Malawi Office, aimed at releasing children from poverty through holistic child development interventions.
Job Purpose:
The Program Officer will direct day-to-day activities, supervise staff, and interact with Compassion as the team leader, providing guidance and technical skills for holistic child development.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Christian role model and witness for Jesus Christ
- Advocate for children living in poverty
- Direct daily project activities and lead program staff/volunteers
- Mentor, coach, supervise, and evaluate staff
- Lead preparation and implementation of partner plans
- Ensure individual child attention through home/school visits and assessments
- Support beneficiary identification, slots management, and transitions
- Assess and update beneficiary, ICP, and training needs
- Implement partnership agreement commitments
- Mobilize resources through proposals and network with agencies
- Ensure proper use of funds, accurate books, and asset management
- Monitor and evaluate programs through reports and reviews
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Mature born-again Christian with sound testimony
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Education, Communication, Records Management, or related field
- Diploma holders with more than 5 years' experience may be considered
- Project planning and management skills (added advantage)
- Formal training in counseling and child development (added advantage)
- Previous supervisory experience desired
- Good interpersonal skills and team builder
- Computer literate
- Knowledge of Early Childhood Development interventions
- Customer service orientation
- Ability to apply accounting procedures
- Good written and verbal communication skills (intermediate English preferred)
- Willing to work in remote area in Thyolo district
- Age: 25–45 years
Working Conditions:
- Based at Local Church Project
- Home visits for training and support
- Travel for correspondence
