POSITION: SCHOOL BURSAR
Location: Rumphi
OVERVIEW
St. Patrick’s Seminary is seeking a highly organized, diligent, and honest individual to fill the role of School Bursar. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient financial management of the institution, ensuring transparency, accuracy in record-keeping, and the smooth day-to-day operation of the school’s finance office.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management: Maintain accurate accounting records, including ledgers, cash books, and bank reconciliations.
Fee Collection: Oversee the timely collection of school fees and issue official receipts.
Budgeting: Assist the Rector in preparing annual budgets and monitoring departmental spending.
Payroll & Compliance: Process staff salaries and ensure all statutory deductions (PAYE, Pension, etc.) are filed correctly.
Procurement: Manage school supplies and ensure value for money in all institutional purchases.
Reporting: Prepare monthly and termly financial statements for the Board of Governors and Diocese.
Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day supervision of the school’s support staff, ensuring high standards of performance, discipline, and efficient service delivery across the campus.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Diploma in Accounting(ICAM/PAEC/ACCA) with 2 years experience or Degree in Accounting /Business Administration. Those studying towards Chartered accounting certification will have an added advantage.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks.
Attributes: High level of integrity, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
Values: Must be willing to respect and uphold the Catholic ethos and values of the Seminary.
