Job Title: Carpentry Foreman (1)

Nature of Contract: One Year Fixed Term

Duty Station: Rumphi.

Reporting to: Site Manager

Department: Workshop

Job Summary

The Carpenter Foreman oversees daily carpentry operations on construction sites. This role involves supervising

workers, interpreting blueprints, coordinating materials and schedules, ensuring safety compliance and

performing skilled carpentry tasks when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of carpenters and labourers

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and construction plans

• Assign tasks and monitor work quality and productivity

• Ensure projects meet deadlines and budget requirements

• Measure, cut, shape and assemble wood and other materials

• Install structures such as framing, doors, windows, cabinets, drywall and roofing

• Coordinate with contractors, engineers and project managers

• Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with building codes and specifications

• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas

• Enforce workplace safety standards and procedures

• Train and mentor junior carpenters and apprentices

• Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications & Experience

• Malawi school Certificate of Education or its equivalent with Grade 1 National Trade Test Certificate in

Carpentry and Joinery

• TEVET Certificate/Diploma in Car[entry, Joinery or Construction Technology is an added advantage

• Proven 10 years experience as a Carpenter and supervisory experience

• Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques and construction methods

• Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints

• Leadership and team management skills

• Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities

• Proficiency with hand and power tools
