Job Title: Steel Fixer Foreman

Nature of Contract: One Year Fixed Term

Duty Station: Rumphi

Reporting to: Project Manager

Department: Workshop

JOB SUMMARY

A Steel Fixer Foreman supervises and coordinates steel fixing activities on construction sites. The role involves

managing teams of steel fixers, ensuring reinforcement steel is installed according to engineering drawings and

project specifications, maintaining safety standards and ensuring work is completed efficiently and on schedule

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and lead steel fixers and construction workers on site

• Read and interpret structural drawings, bar bending schedules and construction plans

• Plan and coordinate daily steel fixing activities

• Ensure correct cutting, bending, and placement of reinforcement steel bars and mesh

• Inspect steel reinforcement work before concrete pouring

• Ensure work complies with engineering specifications and building codes

• Monitor productivity and project progress

• Organize materials, tools and equipment needed for work

• Coordinate with Site Engineers, Supervisors and other trades

• Enforce health and safety regulations on site

• Train and guide junior steel fixers and apprentices

• Report site progress, challenges and material requirements to management

• Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications & Experience

• Malawi school Certificate of Education or its equivalent with Trade Test Certificate in Steel Fixing,

Reinforced Concrete Works or Construction-related trade

• TEVET Certificate/Diploma in Construction, Civil Engineering or related field is an added advantage

• Strong knowledge of steel fixing and reinforced concrete structures

• Ability to read and understand structural drawings and bar schedules

• Leadership and team supervision skills

• Good communication and organizational abilities

• Knowledge of construction safety procedures

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

• Skilled in the use of steel fixing tools and equipment
