POSITION: SCHOOL COMMISSIONAIRE

Location: Lilongwe

OVERVIEW 

Bishop Mackenzie International School – BMIS, the only International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in Malawi located in Lilongwe, is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant position of School Commissionaire.

Job Purpose

To maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain a safe and secure environment for students, staff, parents and visitors by conducting random campus patrols and checks;

In collaboration with the outsourced security service providers, conduct regular, scheduled security patrols around the school perimeter and parking lots to prevent vandalism, theft and trespassing;

Strict adherence and enforcement of BMIS security protocols and procedures and report any gaps;

Ensure that visitors, parents and contractors are issued with passes and direct them to appropriate offices;

Identify, investigate, resolve or report security breaches, including unauthorised or suspicious persons, vehicles and activities;

Periodically, check and ensure that the electric fence is working properly;

Assist with portal duties during students drop offs and pick-ups;

Any other duties as assigned by the Director.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Diploma or Certificate in Security Management

Minimum of a Malawi Schools Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent

4 to 6 years of relevant experience in security and law enforcement

Other requirements and Skills

Clean criminal record and proven integrity

Physically fit and should be able to handle physically demanding situations

Strong communication skills

High situational awareness skills
