VACANCY: COMMUNITY WELFARE OFFICER

Location: Cape Maclear, Mangochi
Changing Stars Malawi is seeking a motivated and committed Community Welfare Officer to support child welfare, education monitoring, and community-based programmes.
CONTRACT DETAILS
- Working Hours: 40 hours per week (flexible based on programme needs)
- Contract: 3-month probation followed by a renewable 12-month contract (performance & funding dependent)
- Benefits: Housing provided in Cape Maclear, plus travel and healthcare allowance
REQUIREMENTS (ESSENTIAL)
- Degree in Social Work, Community Development, Education, Psychology, or related field
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive)
- Fluent in Chichewa and English
PREFERRED (NOT ESSENTIAL)
- Teaching or education-related experience
- Project planning, implementation, and reporting experience
- First aid training
- Valid driving licence
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor wellbeing, attendance, and progress of sponsored students
- Conduct home visits and assess vulnerable children and families
- Provide basic emotional support and referrals
- Support school attendance tracking and dropout prevention
- Work with teachers, families, and community structures
- Facilitate parenting and wellbeing workshops
- Maintain case records, reports, and safeguarding documentation
- Support Community Hub activities and safeguarding systems
- Assist with volunteer and staff safeguarding orientation
