Job Description
The OpportunitySave the Children is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Communications Specialist for the Malawi and Zimbabwe Cluster, based in Lilongwe.
Save the Children works to promote and protect children’s rights across Malawi and Zimbabwe through advocacy, campaigns, and strategic communication. The Communications Specialist will support the implementation of the Cluster’s Advocacy, Communications, Campaigns and Media (ACCM) strategy to ensure visibility, influence, and engagement with key stakeholders at all levels.
The role will support the development and delivery of communication materials, media engagement, campaigns, and documentation of programme impact. It will also strengthen internal and external communication systems and support field teams in implementing high-quality advocacy and campaign activities.
In addition, the role will help build relationships with media, government, and partners, while supporting the design and implementation of campaigns that amplify children’s voices and promote child rights.

Grade: 4
Child Safeguarding: Level 3
In order to be successful, you will bring/have:
Bachelor’s degree in Mass Media, Journalism, Communication, Development Communication, or related field
3–7 years’ experience in communications, advocacy, media relations, or stakeholder engagement in an international NGO
Strong writing, editing, and content development skills across multiple platforms
Experience in developing and implementing communication and media strategies
Strong understanding of child rights and development issues in Malawi and Zimbabwe
Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills
Strong ICT skills, including desktop publishing and content production
Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage competing priorities
Strong cultural awareness and ability to work in diverse environments
Experience in campaigns, media engagement, and public advocacy is an advantage
Ability to translate field experiences into compelling communication products and learning materials
