Job Description

The Licensed Pharmacist will be responsible for ensuring the safe dispensing of medicines, providing professional pharmaceutical advice, and maintaining high standards of customer service and regulatory compliance within the pharmacy.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Dispense prescription and over-the-counter medications accurately.
  2. Provide professional advice on the safe use of medicines.
  3. Counsel patients on dosage, side effects, and medication adherence.
  4. Review prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness.
  5. Monitor and manage pharmaceutical inventory and stock levels.
  6. Ensure compliance with PMRA regulations and pharmacy standards.
  7. Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation.
  8. Support health promotion and disease prevention initiatives.
  9. Handle customer inquiries professionally and confidentially.
  10. Ensure proper storage and handling of pharmaceutical products.
  11. Monitor expiry dates and manage stock rotation.
  12. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
  13. Supervise pharmacy support staff where necessary.
  14. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy.
  15. Perform other pharmacy-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
  2. Valid Pharmacist License and registration with the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA).
  3. Good knowledge of pharmaceutical laws, ethics, and regulations.
  4. Strong understanding of community pharmacy operations.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  7. Ability to provide high-quality customer service.
  8. Good record-keeping and documentation skills.
  9. Professional integrity and ethical conduct.
  10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  11. Good organizational and time-management skills.
  12. Computer literacy and basic pharmacy software knowledge will be an added advantage.
  13. Previous experience in a community pharmacy setting will be an added advantage.
