Overview
Since 2004, Ungweru Organisation has been at the forefront of creating positive change in communities across Malawi. The organization is inviting applications from passionate, dedicated, and qualified individuals to fill the position of Field Officer.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation and coordination of community-based projects, fundraising initiatives, and stakeholder engagement programmes to improve the effectiveness and impact of Ungweru Organisation's community development interventions.
Job Purpose
The Field Officer will coordinate and facilitate project implementation at the community level, support fundraising initiatives, strengthen partnerships, build community capacity, and monitor programme activities to ensure efficient and effective delivery of organizational projects.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation
- Lead the planning, organization, facilitation, and implementation of projects at the project area level.
- Ensure accountability for programme activities through data collection, record keeping, and timely preparation of quarterly and annual reports.
- Coordinate the implementation of planned activities with committees, district authorities, and community partners.
- Lead fundraising activities, including the development of funding proposals.
Partnership & Advocacy
- Build and maintain partnerships with local stakeholders in education, food, and nutrition security.
- Represent the organization in local committees, task forces, and stakeholder meetings.
- Promote advocacy initiatives at the local level.
Capacity Building
- Build the capacity of communities and local institutions by addressing identified skills and knowledge gaps.
Programme Monitoring
- Provide technical support to communities in implementing development plans.
- Monitor programme progress and ensure timely preparation of quality monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should possess:
- A Diploma in a relevant field.
- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience.
- Strong facilitation, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Good understanding of cross-cultural issues.
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate in local languages.
- High level of integrity, accountability, flexibility, and teamwork.
- Willingness to live and work in rural areas.
