POSITION: BOARDING MISTRESS (2 POSITIONS)

Location: Blantyre 

OVERVIEW 

God's Grace Academy, a Christian institution committed to academic excellence, spiritual growth, and holistic student development, invites applications from qualified and experienced individuals for the position of Boarding Mistress (2 Positions).

This role is ideal for mature, compassionate, organised, and responsible professionals who are passionate about student welfare, mentorship, and creating a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centred boarding environment.

Position

Boarding Mistress (2 Positions)

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for:

Overseeing the daily routines and general well-being of boarding students.

Providing spiritual, emotional, and social guidance to students.

Enforcing discipline and promoting Christian values within the boarding environment.

Maintaining cleanliness, order, and safety within boarding facilities.

Monitoring students' health, behaviour, and overall welfare.

Keeping accurate records of student health, conduct, attendance, and welfare.

Communicating effectively with school management, teachers, and parents regarding student matters.

Organising spiritual, educational, and recreational activities for boarders.

Supporting students in developing good habits, responsibility, and leadership skills.

Responding to emergencies and providing first-line care and support when required.

Ensuring compliance with boarding regulations, school policies, and safeguarding procedures.

Upholding the vision, mission, and values of God's Grace Academy in all professional duties.

Qualifications and Attributes

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

Aged between 30 and 45 years.

A mature born-again Christian with a strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Bachelor's degree in Education, Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, or a related field.

Minimum of three (3) years' experience working with students or young people in a boarding, mentorship, healthcare, or educational setting.

Demonstrated maturity, compassion, discipline, and commitment to serving young people.

Strong leadership, interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.

Firm and fair disciplinarian with high moral standards.

Knowledge of child development and basic crisis management.

High levels of integrity, responsibility, and confidentiality.

Physically fit and able to participate in and support student sporting activities.

Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required in a boarding environment.

Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.

Commitment to and respect for the Christian ethos and values of God's Grace Academy.

Willingness to undergo background checks and comply with child protection policies.
