POSITION: PRINCIPAL OFFICER

Location: Lilongwe

JOB PURPOSE 

The Principal Officer will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall 

management of Huldah’s Insurance Brokers Limited. The successful candidate will 

oversee the company's operations, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, 

drive business growth, maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, and uphold the 

highest standards of corporate governance and professional ethics.

Key Responsibilities

The Principal Officer will be responsible for, among other duties:

• Providing strategic direction and leadership to achieve the company's vision, 

mission, and business objectives.

• Managing the day-to-day operations of the brokerage to ensure efficient and 

effective service delivery.

• Ensuring compliance with the Insurance Act, Reserve Bank of Malawi directives, 

and all other applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

• Leading and coordinating the licensing, regulatory reporting, and compliance 

functions of the company.

• Developing and implementing strategic business plans and annual operational plans.

portfolio.

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with insurers, clients, regulators, 

and other key stakeholders.

• Developing, implementing, and monitoring operational policies, procedures, 

and internal control systems.

• Managing financial performance, budgets, and business risks.

• Ensuring effective human resource management, including staff supervision, 

performance management, and professional development.

• Preparing Board papers, management reports, statutory returns, and other 

regulatory reports.

• Promoting sound corporate governance, ethical conduct, and a culture of 

excellence throughout the organization.

• Representing the company in meetings with regulators, business partners, and 

industry stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor's Degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, 

Finance, Economics, Law, or another relevant discipline from a recognized 

institution.

• A Chartered Insurance qualification (ACII or an equivalent internationally 

recognised Chartered Insurance qualification) is mandatory.

• A minimum of five (5) years' progressive experience in the insurance industry, 

with at least three (3) years in a senior management position, preferably within 

an insurance brokerage or insurance company.

• Thorough knowledge of Malawi's insurance regulatory environment and 

corporate governance requirements.

• Demonstrated experience in business development, strategic planning, and 

organizational leadership
