Position: NATIONAL COORDINATOR
Location: Mangochi, Malawi
Contract: Three years, renewable based on performance
Radio Maria Malawi is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as the National Coordinator, responsible for providing strategic leadership, ensuring operational excellence, and guiding the station’s mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Governance
- Provide overall leadership and direction for Radio Maria Malawi in line with its mission, vision, and Catholic identity.
- Report to the Board of Trustees on financial and administrative matters, and to the National Director on editorial matters.
- Serve as the official representative and spokesperson of the station, including liaison with the World Family of Radio Maria.
Operational & Financial Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the station and its sub-studios.
- Ensure effective management of budgets, resources, and assets in compliance with policies and statutory regulations.
- Supervise the preparation and timely submission of financial and operational reports.
Human Resources & Capacity Building
- Implement HR and administrative policies, including recruitment, staff performance management, and career development.
- Identify training needs and develop capacity-building initiatives to enhance staff performance.
- Foster a positive, values-based work culture that motivates and retains talent.
Programming & Editorial Oversight
- Oversee daily programming and ensure editorial content is consistent with Catholic teaching and broadcasting standards.
- Collaborate with middle management and programming teams to maintain high-quality content delivery.
Stakeholder Engagement & Outreach
- Strengthen partnerships with diocesan structures, Friends of Radio Maria Malawi, and other stakeholders.
- Lead promotional and fundraising initiatives, including proposal writing and donor engagement.
- Uphold and enhance the public image and reputation of the station.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Media/Communications, Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience, including at least 3 years in senior management, preferably in broadcasting, media, or the non-profit sector.
- Strong knowledge of Catholic faith and teachings, with a commitment to the Church’s mission of evangelization.
- Demonstrated experience in financial management, strategic planning, and organizational development.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in ICT and accounting/management software.
- Proven ability to mobilize resources, including fundraising and donor relations.
