Temporary Research Assistants (24 Positions)

Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) is inviting applications from suitably qualified, motivated, and enthusiastic individuals to serve as Research Assistants for the Vitamin A Supplementation Program Bottleneck Study. This study is being implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Health – Nutrition Unit, with funding support from UNICEF.
The study will employ both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Field data collection will take place over one week for research assistants and ten days for data review, across six selected districts in Malawi. All selected candidates will undergo comprehensive training prior to data collection.
Key Responsibilities
The Research Assistants will support data collection and related research activities, including:
Obtaining informed consent from study participants.
Identifying and visiting selected households for surveys and interviews.
Conducting household and individual interviews using electronic data collection tools (tablets).
Maintaining clear and accurate daily records of field activities.
Providing regular progress updates to the team leader.
Assisting in team planning, organization, and report writing.
Performing any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of a Diploma in Community Development, Public Health, or a related field.
A valid Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate.
Strong computer literacy, with experience in electronic data collection using tablets.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Prior experience in health-related research, particularly involving both qualitative and quantitative data, will be an added advantage.
Previous collaboration with Ministry of Health personnel and experience with GIS and electronic data tools is desirable.
Essential Requirements
Willingness to travel extensively, including to hard-to-reach areas.
Ability to work professionally and interact effectively with community members and government officials.
Flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, when necessary.
