POSITION: COMMERCIAL OPERATIONS OFFICER
Location: Lilongwe, with support to operations in various district

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Green Livelihoods (GL) is a Malawian development organisation established in 2006 that promotes sustainable livelihoods, inclusive economic opportunities and environmentally responsible development.
GL established GLICOMEX as its social enterprise and commercial arm, focusing on commercialising viable value chains and business opportunities emerging from GL's programming, while developing independent commercial ventures that can generate sustainable revenues.
GL is seeking a proactive, self-driven and commercially minded Commercial Operations Officer to support the day-to-day operations, sales, marketing, customer relations, inventory management, logistics and business development activities of GLICOMEX ventures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Managing customer interactions, responding to inquiries, processing orders and addressing customer feedback and complaints.
• Maintaining accurate customer records and supporting customer retention and relationship management.
• Following up potential customers, buyers, distributors, suppliers and business partners.
• Supporting sales activities and contributing to sales and revenue targets.
• Monitoring stock levels and maintaining accurate inventory records.
• Supporting receipt, storage, dispatch and movement of products.
• Participating in stock-taking and verification exercises.
• Maintaining accurate records of sales, receipts, payments and business-related expenses.
• Reconciling daily sales and cash records and verifying supporting documentation.
• Supporting promotion of GLICOMEX products and services through social media and other marketing channels.
• Responding to online customer inquiries and monitoring customer engagement.
• Supporting exhibitions, trade fairs, markets, product showcases and promotional events.
• Conducting basic market research and maintaining business leads and contact databases.
• Identifying new market opportunities and supporting market linkages.
• Monitoring market trends, customer preferences, pricing and competitor activities.
• Providing operational and administrative support across GLICOMEX ventures.
• Coordinating logistics, documentation, scheduling and follow-up of outstanding actions.
• Supporting procurement and supplier coordination, including obtaining quotations and following up deliveries.
• Supporting identification, development, testing and commercialisation of new products, services, value chains and business opportunities.
• Maintaining accurate business, customer, inventory, sales and operational records.
• Preparing timely updates and reports on sales, customers, stock, business leads, market opportunities and operational challenges.
• Representing GLICOMEX professionally when engaging with customers, suppliers, partners and other stakeholders.
• Performing other duties reasonably assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants should have:
• A Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Marketing, Commerce, Entrepreneurship or a related field.
• Relevant experience in business operations, sales, customer service, marketing, stock management, business development or related commercial activities will be an advantage.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
• Experience in social media management, digital marketing, exhibitions, trade fairs, sales or market linkage activities will be an added advantage.
• Experience working with enterprises, social enterprises, SMEs, value chains or development organisations will be an advantage.
