*ANNOUNCEMENT*

Portland Cement (Malawi) Limited invites applications from suitably qualified and results driven candidates for consideration to fill the position of *Preventive Maintenance Engineer* tenable in Makata Plant, Blantyre.

*ROLE SUMMARY*

The Preventive Maintenance Engineer will ensure the plant reaches maximum long‑term availability, reliability of the equipment, installations in the plant by implementing the appropriate preventive maintenance actions at the lowest cost and in complaisance with the H&S regulations.

*MAIN ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES*

The preventive maintenance engineer will be responsible for the following activities.

- Driving safety culture by ensuring maintenance activities strict follows health and safety requirements e.g. risk assessment, permits and safe work practices.

- Execution of maintenance activities; backlog activities, spare parts management, inspections.

- Data management: updating PMR, factory BOM, equipment history.

- Equipment analysis: RCFA, RCA, FMEA, downtime and reliability analysis.

- Plant improvement: Project proposal drafting, project implementation and equipment replacement management.

*POST: PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE ENGINEER*

- *Budget and cost control*: controlling maintenance budget by ensuring planning and follow up of cost. Lead planning for all foreseeable operations.

- *People and development*: motivating the team, ensuring skill development is done according to plant needs. Training and coaching the maintenance team.

*EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE*

- Minimum qualifications are bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial engineering, Energy engineering, Mechatronics engineering, and other engineering degrees related to mechanical engineering.

- Minimum working experience of 5 years working in manufacturing industry.

- Those with experience of 2 years or more working in the role of preventive maintenance engineer will have an added advantage.

*TECHNICAL SKILLS*

- Good technical Knowledge in predictive maintenance & condition monitoring: e.g. Vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis with the aim of predicting failure before it occurs.

- Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis: Breakdown analysis using Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and other methods.

- Preventive maintenance planning: scheduling and executing maintenance task.

- Ability to read and write technical documents: drawings using CAD software, design analysis.

- Knowledge in project management.
