About the Role

Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Research Programme is hiring two Social Scientists to support the THRIVE project, focusing on community resilience, nutrition, and mental health in areas affected by extreme weather events.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead field research & qualitative data collection 

• Support study design, tools development & ethics processes 

• Supervise and mentor field teams (citizen ethnographers) 

• Conduct data analysis and reporting 

• Coordinate with communities, District Health Offices & partners 

• Contribute to research outputs (reports, publications, policy briefs) 

• Ensure compliance with research ethics and safeguarding standards 

🎓 Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Sociology, Public Health, or related field 

• Minimum 3 years research experience 

• At least 2 years in a supervisory role 

• Experience in community-based research (vulnerable groups) 

• Skills in qualitative data analysis (e.g. NVivo) 

• Fluent in Chichewa (Yao is an added advantage) 

• Strong communication, teamwork & adaptability
