POSITION: AGROFORESTRY FIELD OFFICER 


Location: Phalombe



OVERVIEW 

Inter Aide is an international NGO that has been operating in Malawi for over 30 years, focusing on agriculture, agroforestry, community health, water access, and maintenance of water points.


The organization is implementing a project aimed at supporting smallholder families to establish agroforestry plantations for sustainable firewood, income generation, and environmental conservation, particularly around the Mulanje Mountain Forest Reserve.


2. Agroforestry Field Officer (1 Post)


Reference: AFP-AFOPE-2026


Role Purpose:

To support the implementation of agroforestry activities at community level.


Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate tree nursery and group activities

• Train farmers in agroforestry practices and nursery management

• Collect and report nursery and field data

• Support tree planting and management activities

• Promote Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR)

• Collaborate with local stakeholders

• Prepare monthly reports


Qualifications and Requirements

• Diploma in Agroforestry, Agriculture, or related field

• Minimum 3 years’ experience supporting smallholder farmers

• Experience in nursery management and agroforestry practices


Key Skills

• Strong organizational and reporting skills

• Passion for agroforestry and community work

• Ability to work independently

• High level of integrity

• Motorbike license (Class A) is an added advantage

• Fluent in Chichewa and English
