POSITION: FINANCE OFFICER
Location: Zomba
Reporting to: Finance Manager

We are seeking a passionate, detail-oriented, and results-driven Finance Officer to support the effective management of our financial operations at our Zomba Branch. This role is pivotal in ensuring financial integrity, accuracy, and compliance, while contributing to sound decision-making through timely reporting, analysis, and strong internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain an up-to-date register of all institutional physical assets and ensure their proper utilization
Support the preparation of profitability reports and recommend strategies to enhance financial sustainability
Monitor cash flows and provide timely advice to management
Review daily bank balances and exchange rates, and recommend necessary actions including replenishments
Prepare bank and general ledger reconciliations accurately and on time
Coordinate finance and operations functions at branch level, including loan disbursements and reconciliation between Sun System and Loan Tracking System
Process payments and travel advances, ensuring proper documentation and filing
Support internal and external audit processes, including implementation of audit recommendations
Assist in the preparation and implementation of budgets in collaboration with departments to control expenditure and support decision-making
Undertake additional duties as assigned by management from time to time
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a reputable finance function
Strong knowledge of finance and accounting principles, preferably within microfinance or banking
Good analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in computer applications, with working knowledge of Sun System and Loan Tracking Systems being an added advantage
High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
Must be a committed Christian, aligned with the organization’s values
Qualifications
Certificate in Accounting or a related field
