RIGHT TO CARE MALAWI – HIV CARE AND TREATMENT LEAD

Location: Mzuzu Hub Office

Reports to: Chief of Party / Deputy Chief of Party

Right to Care Malawi, with support from PEPFAR through CDC, is seeking an HIV Care and Treatment Lead to ensure clinically sound, evidence-based HIV interventions aligned with Malawi’s Ministry of Health priorities.

Job Summary:

The HIV Care and Treatment Lead will provide technical guidance, oversee program implementation, and ensure continuity of services, improved treatment outcomes, and transition of HIV service delivery to the Ministry of Health.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance to district implementation teams for client-centered HIV care and treatment
  • Lead development of evidence-based strategies to address gaps in HIV services
  • Strengthen and scale up differentiated HIV care models for treatment continuity and viral load suppression
  • Support pediatric-focused initiatives (Chivwati Cha Wana) for treatment adherence
  • Collaborate with DHMTs, implementing partners, and community organizations
  • Lead routine technical meetings to track progress and enhance cross-learning
  • Develop training materials, SOPs, job aids, and tracking tools
  • Support development of annual, quarterly, and monthly work plans and budgets
  • Work with M&E team to monitor progress and submit timely reports
  • Build capacity of government and CHAM staff through mentorship and training
  • Provide technical assistance to supported prisons
  • Represent Right to Care at strategic meetings, TWGs, and conferences

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree (MBBS/MD) or Nursing Degree or equivalent
  • Master's degree in Public Health (added advantage)
  • Trained in Malawi HIV treatment guidelines

Required Experience, Skills & Knowledge:

  • Minimum 5 years progressive experience leading PEPFAR/MoH-funded HIV care and treatment programs
  • Competent in program design, implementation, and monitoring
  • Strong experience in capacity building of frontline healthcare workers
  • Well conversant with work plans and activity budgets
  • Proven ability to work with MoH and community-based structures
  • Demonstrated experience in quality improvement projects
  • Excellent leadership, management, and report writing skills
