Location: : Ntcheu District (onsite)
CONTRACT TYPE : Fixed-term, 12 months
START DATE : Contingent subject to the finalization of PPP with the Ministry of Water and Sanitation as well as the District Council
ABOUT MVULA PIPED WATER LIMITED
Mvula Piped Water Limited is a Utility-as-a-Service provider delivering sustainable, solar-powered piped water systems to rural communities in Malawi. Our flagship Kandeu Solar Piped Water Scheme in Ntcheu will serve 3,000 people.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Finance & Grants Administrator will manage day-to-day project accounting, budgeting, and reporting to ensure compliance with donor and government requirements. You will work closely with the Lead Engineer/Project Manager and external auditors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain accurate financial records for the Kandeu project using QuickBooks and Excel.
Process payments, manage petty cash, and reconcile mobile money collections from water kiosks.
Prepare monthly management accounts and documentation for quarterly grant reports.
Support procurement processes and ensure compliance with donor procurement policies.
Assist with budget monitoring, variance analysis, and statutory submissions including PAYE and NSSA.
Liaise with external auditors during audits and due diligence.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum 3 years' experience in accounting, NGO, or donor-funded project finance.
Proficiency in QuickBooks, MS Excel, and mobile money platforms.
Knowledge of MRA Tax Compliance requirements.
Strong attention to detail, integrity, and ability to work independently.
