POSITION: PROJECT TECHNICAL SUPERVISOR (CONTRACT)

JOB DESCRIPTION

PROJECT: Kandeu EPA Borehole Rehabilitation & Solarization

REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer, Mvula Piped Water Limited (MPWL)

CONTRACT TYPE: Contingent (Transitioning to Full-Time upon Project Funding)

ABOUT THE ROLE

Mvula Piped Water Limited is a newly registered private water operator pioneering the "Utility-as-a-Service" model in Malawi. We are seeking a visionary and highly Technical Project Supervisor to lead our "Proof of Concept" pilot in Kandeu, Ntcheu. This is a Contingent Appointment. The successful candidate will be named as the Lead Engineer in our upcoming grant applications to the Malawi Innovation Challenge Fund (MICF) and GIZ develoPPP Ventures. Formal employment and salary commencement are subject to project funding and the finalization of our PPP agreement with the Ministry of Water and Sanitation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Engineering Oversight: Oversee the conversion of 3 boreholes into Level 2 Solar-Powered reticulation systems.

Digital Integration: Supervise the installation and calibration of GSM-enabled smart meters for live revenue and flow tracking (in partnership with Davis & Shirtliff).

Civil Works Management: Ensure all tank stands, kiosks, and fencing meet CIRA and MBS structural standards.

Community Liaison: Serve as the technical face of Mvula on-site, working with local leadership to ensure "Social Fencing" and asset protection.

Reporting: Maintain the digital dashboard and provide technical data for monthly reports to the CEO and the District Council.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education: B.Sc. in Civil, Water, or Mechanical Engineering.

Registration: MUST be a registered member of the Malawi Engineering Institution with a valid practicing license.

Experience: 5+ years in rural water infrastructure, specifically solar-powered pumping and reticulation.

Technical Savvy: Comfort with IoT, GSM monitoring, and mobile money payment interfaces.

Leadership: Strong communication skills to manage both high-level stakeholders and community kiosk operators.
